2010 FIBA World Championship

2010 FIBA World Championship Logo
The second most important sporting event in the planet, the 2010 FIBA World Championship (a.k.a. World Basketball Championship), is about to kick off in 24 hours time in Turkey. The world tourney's opening game will be China vs. Greece and New Zealand Tall Blacks vs. Lithuania.

Just like the 2010 FIFA World Cup, since the Philippines failed to qualify this year, I am going to support other national teams in the tournament. First on my list is the New Zealand Tall Blacks. I will also support the United States Development Team and Lebanon with Australia and Iran not far behind. For the avid basketball fans out there, those teams may not be among the contenders (yes, including Team USA) but there is that old saying, "underdogs always win". These teams can cause upsets and capable of inflicting damage to one of the basketball powers' world championship campaign. In other words, the spoilers!

Here are the groupings of this year's World Championship:

Group A
  • Argentina
  • Serbia
  • Australia
  • Germany
  • Angola
  • Jordan

Group B
  • USA - 2010 world champion!
