The Islands of the East

[This blog entry was from my old defunct blog and I decided to re-post this entry here.]

Filipinos have this habit of gossips ("tsismis"). Two Filipinos may smile in front of each other and back-stabbed whoever turns around. But another habit that could be associated with gossips and back-stabbing is the habit to believe whenever they heard a rumor or whenever they read something. Such as the story of a certain Filipino named Agapito Flores inventing the fluorescent lamp.

When I was a kid, I read and heard that the Philippines was mentioned in the Bible and that it justify our country as the only Christian nation in Asia (even today, some still taught that the Philippines is the only Christian country in Asia without acknowledging East Timor). Recently, I have read in a travel blog about the same thing again.

The blog posted that in the Book of Isaiah, chapter 24 verses 15-16, the Bible said:
“Therefore in the east give glory to the Lord; exalt the name of the Lord, the God of Israel, in the islands of the sea. From the ends of the earth we hear singing: 'Glory to the Righteous One.'"
Sounds good isn't it.

Nevertheless, as a Christian, I was fascinated. I thought its awesome that the Philippines, though not specifically mentioned by name, was acknowledged/prophesied in the Holy Bible.

As my faith grow and continue to mature, I have learned that the only true version of the Bible is that of the King James Version (KJV). The King James Version of the Bible was the first truly English translation of the Bible. Its translation from the original scriptures was authorized by King James I of Great Britain, the first King of the united kingdom of Scotland and England. The King James Version has served Christians for about 400 years and still is the only Authorized Version most independent Christian churches uses today.

One day, I checked my Bible. The King James Version of course. To check out the verses in the Book of Isaiah concerning the Philippines and I was surprise to see that the word "East" was not mention at all.

Here is the King James Version:
Isaiah 24: 15-16 "Wherefore glorify ye the LORD in the fires, even the name of the LORD God of Israel in the isles of the sea. From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs, even glory to the righteous."
It shocks me that religious translators or publishers in our country have the guts to modify the Words of God in order to make it appear that the Philippines was mention in the Bible. Clearly, the King James Version of the verses did not say the word "East" at all.

Here is the LORD's message to those who loves to change the Words of God:

In Matthew 24:35 the Lord Jesus Christ said:
"Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away."
God also gave a stern warning to those who change His Words.
In Revelation 22:18-19, "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."
In Proverbs 30:5-6, "Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar."

  1. But not countng the word "east" the Philippnes is still the populous islands in the world ,whic worship God ,take out Catholicism , it's still of the same God of Israel Filipinos worship. Added to this according to some theorical perspectives with historical bases ,of posssbly where one of the descendants of the lost tribes of Israel be found . Just do reseach of this area. Big spiritual revival is happening in the Philippines ,people are akingup to worship the true God and gettin out of idoltry in Catholicm.
If this would not convinced you ,look at the new issue of Philippine peso bills with Bible verse of Psalm 33:12 "“Pinagpala ng bayan na ang Diyos ay ang Panginoon." Des east Timor does this ? God reveals to people ,just dont limit your perspecives by your own present knowledge and with soaring pride ,rather you pray that God will give you revelations .

  2. This was posted in July 2011 ,but still you forget to credit the new issue of Philippine peso bills has Psalm 33:12 " Blessed in the nation whos God is the Lord." Old Php pesos also declares the country's faith in God . Don't be too hype up with your criticisms .God has used Nebuchadnizar (sp?) for the his prophetic dreams, does that mean it's false? I don't use NIV Bible either .So I don't take into account directions pointing the east.
Does it not even excite you being a Filipino that this Isles of the sea could have been the Philippines? Or you're part of it rather than put every idea and possibility on stinky bag of disbelief ,like it's it's something for ridicule .As a true Christian ,you should have prayed and fasted for God's annointing and discernment rather than trust your own understanding. The Philippines is the most populous island clusters and as a country worldwide.PH contributes 20 %of global demand of sea farers .The Philippines exporting its services globally Docs, nurses,DH etc .Yoy can find Filipinos in th eand of the earth who speaks universal language of English .Sure there are little christian islands as E.Timor but with just over a million population vs 101+ million Philippine population .

Instead why don't you open your heart to God ,that maybe God has a plan for the Filipno people after all .Rather than bash the idea in total reliance of your own knowledge.
